I have always been intrigued by the age-old notion that men and women cannot be friends. I mean, who made that rule? In my early twenties, living in England, I had mostly male friends. Not only were they fun to hang out with, but they sort of ‘served a purpose’ as well 🙂 If I wanted to go dancing, I would take one of my mates and he would ward off any unwanted advances from men – and I could actually dance and have a good time. Same with going for a drink at a bar: take one of my male friends and no one dared hit on me.
This little love story was really just me trying to understand a certain dynamic. I wanted to see how my characters would grow. Would they start having feeling for each other? If they did, would they fight it? Or give in to it?
I can’t really say I understand what Juliette was going through at the start of the book: she’s just finalised her divorce and that pain was still raw and very real for her, even though she had been emotionally separated from her husband for a while. I just really loved Liam’s character. I especially liked how he sort of felt like since he had gone through his own struggles with love, that he should ‘protect’ Juliette’s heart. And the fact that he offered his hand in friendship, rather than take advantage of her situation, that put him in my good books 🙂
If you have read RSVP Plus One, what did you like about the story? Do you think men and women can be best friends? Have you ever been in such a relationship / friendship?
If you haven’t downloaded your copy of my second novella, head on over to Amazon and purchase now…
Until next time,
