The Return is my first novel set in the US. I primarily set my stories in the United Kingdom (IYKYK), and so when the idea for this romance came to me, I knew it could not be set anywhere else.
I wanted to write a novel reminiscent of the Hallmark movies I grew up watching: sweet and closed-door. So I created Birch Creek — a small town in Oregon where everyone knows everyone. The characters are relatable, the story is moving and (because it’s Hallmark) the chances of a HEA is signifanctly high.
The Return is making a comeback — for those who have not yet read it. This Spring and for a limited time only, I am offering this book for free over on BookFunnel. To get your digital copy of The Return, you must sign up to my newsletter. I don’t blast out newsletters too often. Sometimes it’s only once a week, other times it’s every fortnight.
If you are still not sure if this book is for you, here is the blurb:
The day Justin broke the news to Jessica that her fiancé—his twin brother—had died, his world fell apart. Battling his own demons, he left home hoping to piece together his broken heart. Little did he know that in the wake of this tragedy, Jessica was mourning not only the man she loved but the loss of her best friend.
Caught up in her grief, Jessica moves away from the tragic loss and memories haunting her in Phoenix and settles in the small town of Birch Creek, Oregon. Where no one knows her, and she can start over; with new friends and the perfect job. If only she would allow herself to love again.
The residents of Birch Creek are celebrating 150 years since the founding families settled in this quaint town. And as the festivities kick off, the new town doctor arrives and comes to find that second chances do exist—but is he ready for it?
Can Justin move past his inner conflicts and thoughts of betrayal when a chance encounter brings him face-to-face with the woman he has loved for nearly two decades?
I do hope you give The Return a try. It’s really a sweet love story and who knows, there might be some more coming out of Birch Creek sometime in the future.
