It’s been a hot minute since I last posted.

I’m kidding! Of course, I am going to tell you why I’ve been quiet. Life, people! Life.
Over the last few months, I’ve had some changes happen in my life that needed my undivided attention. Also, I just turned 40! Ha! There you go.
Seriously, though, I have missed getting on here and exposing myself to my readers in words. So, if you are a follower: thanks for sticking around. If you are new here: let’s get to know the woman behind the closed-door romance novels 🙂
Hi!!! I’m Gretchen. This is me on a good day. Showered, dressed, face on point!
I’m a 40-year-old Harry Potter nerd. Yup, I cried when Robbie Coltrane died. And for a frame of reference: I cried when Sirius, Bobby, Dumbledore and Snape died too. Hella crazy, I know! I’m a wife to a hotel exec; mum to a feisty eight-year-old; homemaker; hobby-baker; friend, sister, daughter, etc. etc. I also like to think of myself as an author. Aren’t we all authors of our own life stories, though? When you think about it.
So, that’s me in a nutshell. Haha!
I was born in Cape Town, South Africa, travelled and lived in several other countries, and now I live in The Bahamas. No jokes. I do. It’s palm trees, azure waters, gorgeous sunsets and tropical foods. It has its negative sides too, but we like to keep it positive around here, so I won’t tell you about the potholes, the hurricanes and tropical storms, the random rain showers and the high cost of living 🙂
Ever since I got my first passport in 2003, I wanted to see the world. And see the world, I did. And now that things have started opening up again, I want to get back on that. I recently returned from a solo trip to Scotland, and it was fantastic (I got some really awesome inspiration for more stories on this trip). The bug has me hard, and I want to get on the next plane soon!
I don’t particularly enjoy going out on a little boat because I get bad motion sickness. But it’s something you kinda have to do when you live on an island 🙂
Humouring my child has become something I randomly do these days, and so I showed her that I, too, can catch a fish without a rod (don’t worry, we did catch-and-release on the little guys). It’s a one-and-done for me, though—just like having kids, HAHA!
Sometimes (not often), I like to get glammed up and hit the hot spots. Mostly though, I’m in loungewear.
As mentioned before, I like to humour my daughter, so when she wants to hang out with mermaids, her mum is right by her side. Especially when it’s with Mermaid Linzi (shamelessly plugging her).
It is also important to teach one’s child the importance of taking selfies, not just for vain purposes, but so that you engage with the local wildlife too.
Of course, after having lived in Germany for six years, I urgently needed to be in a place where I could soak up vitamin D from the source. And what better place to do just that than on a little island in the Caribbean!
Okay, so now that we are all up to date on who Gretchen is, I guess it makes sense to get back to telling you about my books? I’ll have to leave that for another post, though. Just come back here to stay updated.
