The Return Reviews

Reviews for my latest novel, The Return are coming in hot! And I am so thankful to all of you who take the time to write a review over on Amazon or GoodReads. These really do help my books get onto feeds of those who wouldn’t normally read clean romance. If you haven’t yet purchased The Return, check out these honest reviews from readers who have read it:

5* Moving Story: This was a great book about second chances in life. This was a wonderfully written story with a very lovely and heartwarming story. Such a moving book with amazing writing from the author.

5* A sweet read: If you hanker for escape, a quaint town where the entire population feels like an extended family, and a conflict is an internal battle, then this is your read.

What I loved and the reason for my 5 stars:

1. The pace was perfect for me to disconnect from the real world.

2. Jessica migrates to this small town and is adopted. The people read her sadness and embrace her, hoping she finds or heals what she ran there from.

3. True love

4. The ‘I-did-not-see-that-coming’

5. What the end hinted for one of my favourite characters

hoping she finds or heals what she ran there from.

5* Escape to another world!!!: Another outstanding book to read by Gretchen. Again, I found myself unable to put the book down as I didn’t want to escape the little world that she had created for her readers. Gretchen captured the aura of Birch Creek so well that every page I turned I felt like I was living there and feeling all the emotions of each character. I was living in the background of Birch Wood watching the book play out!!! I found myself wiping away tears at one point, then back to having a smile on my face, again going through a journey of emotions. This book is like one of those movies that you want to go back and watch (read) over and over as you know on each read you will feel all the emotions each and every time! Thank you Gretchen, you did it again!!

4* Would love to visit Birch Creek: The Return is a lovely story about love found again, and even though a little long, it sets the vision, setting and tone for what I can see will be a successful series set in this idyllic place! I absolutely love the atmosphere of the book and the way the relationship and friendships are described.

5* I thought I was living the book: I found myself living and breathing this book, I absolutely loved it!! I felt every moment between the characters as the author certainly knows how to describe a scene that allows you to actually feel the moment. I have read all of Gretchen’s book and this one is yet another one that got me wanting more!! Thank you for taking me away to Birch Creek, I would really like to go again. 🙂

4* Sweet Story: A great setting for a sweet romantic story. If you’re into small town, lost and found love stories, then this will certainly satisfy you. It can be sad at times, but that makes the book and characters feel more relatable.

5* Fall in love with Birch Creek: Thank you for another great read, Gretchen. The Return is genuinely a story to fall in love with. This book transports you into the quaint world of Beach Creek. Not only did I fall in love with the setting, but I got so invested in the lives of not only Justin and Jessica but of all the other characters as well. I really look forward to where this series is going. If you are looking for a romance that will have you run the gamut of emotions, look no further!

5* Charming and sweet: If you want a book that is welcoming, sweet, and reminiscent of Hallmark movies, you’ve hit the jackpot. The writing is great and the setting gave me some nostalgia for my small-town upbringing.

4* Sweet slow burn romance that allows for second chances: This is a sweet, slow burn romance that allows for second chances. We get to know Jessica in this Birch Creek novel, as well as many of her close friends. Jess if the town librarian who has come to the small town to recover from a loss. Townsfolk are more like family here and Jess is finally ready to move on. An unexpected re-encounter provides with an opportunity for love.
Of course, this is romance, so the new couple has to have it’s struggles. The largest challenge they face comes very late in the book and although I was expecting it, I still found the reactions of the characters to be realistic. There were parts of the novel that lagged because they dealt with everyday life rather than pushing the story forward. However, I didn’t find they detracted from the storyline, just that they were more filler than anything. I enjoyed this and would recommend it for anyone who loves slow burn romance.

5* Feel good small town romance: A fan of this author, I was awaiting the release of this book and it did not disappoint.
Enjoyed the small town feel and story of a reunion and second chance of love.
Can’t wait for the next one

5* Perfect beach read: This book is a slow-burn, clean, closed-door romance. This is a fun and perfect beach read and I really enjoyed the plot of the story. I recommend this book to anyone who’s into a sweet and slow-burn romance.

4* A nice read: I loved the small, North Pacific town feel in this story. It kind of reminded me of a Walmart movie a little bit. The love story was nice too, and the plot was interesting. I found some of the story a little slow, but sometimes you need it to appreciate the the big things and the plot as a whole.

4* Enjoy the characters and the croissants: This romance set in a small Oregon town was a welcome respite from reading the daily news reports. I enjoyed reading about the likes, loves, and emotional tug of war these characters were embroiled in! It has a good twist at the end, too. The author could stand to develop her writing skills a bit. At one point British English has a breakthrough. I don’t think anyone in Oregon would eat nuts and crisps. What’s a crisp??? lol But I enjoyed the croissants.

Have you already read The Return and not yet left your review? Check out this post to understand a little more as to why it’s so important to leave your honest review (PS. I never have and never will buy reviews or pay for reviews.)

I am still currently enjoying my summer holidays, but there is still sooooo much creative flow going on in the background. I can’t wait to start updating you all when I am back on the sandy shores of the Caribbean real soon.

Till then, happy reading,
Gretchen W.
