Where has the time gone??? Here I am, sitting on my couch at the start of 9 weeks of the school holidays. my daughter has just finished what can only be described as an interesting year. I don’t want to use the word challenging – I think that word has been used far too often these last 18 months. It sure has been interesting though. And due to so many unforeseen issues that popped up, like they only can in 2021, my writing has quite literally not seen the light of day. My poor MacBook has only ben used for Zoom, Google Classroom and online food delivery. I have not been able to invest any time to marketing Red Carpets & Wellingtons. I have not been able to write down any of my ideas for future projects, which ultimately meant I have now lost a few along the way. Time got away from me and I am finally now settling down to a routine that I can say I am happy with for the next two months. So, let’s go!
Red Carpets & Wellingtons has been doing as well as I can expect, given that I have not been blasting it over on Social Media as I had wished. Having said that, I feel like I maybe should have waited on its release. However, I have come up with a plan to get the message out to the masses over the next few weeks. So, if you have already purchased your digital copy (or your paperback over on Amazon), I do apologise if you get inundated with posts on Instagram and Facebook about the book.
When I say this is THE Summer Read for 2021, I really mean it. In the current climate, I personally can’t do with a Horror Story (which generally would be my go-to reading list for summer). I have also had quite a rough school year with homeschooling, etc. so the last thing I need is a thrill ride. I want to relax. And I want an easy read for when I hang out at the beach or pool with my kid. Red Carpets & Wellingtons is definitely the kind of book I would have in my beach bag.
I worked long hours developing my characters into the relatable beings you will come to love. The story is set in the fictional village / small town in Yorkshire, England. And when I came up with the idea for this book, I had no idea how my characters would grow. I enjoyed coming up with every twist and turn.
I really hope you will give this love story a chance to creep into your heart, dear reader! You will feel all the feels and when you get to the last page, you will be happy the way it all turns out. Put this book on your to-read-list over on GoodReads, download your digital copy on any of the platforms found here or purchase a paperback copy now!
And when you have finished it, please do write your honest review or send me your feedback. Seriously, your feedback helps me become an even better writer. I took all the feedback I got from my previous works and put it into Red Carpets & Wellingtons. And those who have already read it, have told me how happy they are that I listened.
Well, that was a winded post. I’m sorry, when the words flow, I can’t stop. And again, the time has flown by now. I have to go make dinner for the family 🙂
Take care and don’t forget to subscribe to my blog. Head on over to my socials and follow me. With the holidays, I am going to try and make more time for my craft and also to keep you, my dear followers, updated on all things Gretchen!
Much love,
